Richard D. Stephenson II joined Stevans & Associates, PLLC in August of 2021, sharing the same vision of redefining public accounting for individuals and small businesses that Matthew Stevans used to start Stevans & Associates in 2008. Richard became a member owner of Stevans & Associates, PLLC in July, 2023.
Richard provides a tailored, individualized approach to each individual and business he works with. With an entrepreneurial background himself, Richard delivers and communicates information to help his clients make sound decisions. His goal is to not only expose planning opportunities and solutions, but also recommend how to put the plan into action.
Richard graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, College of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Business Information Systems and then went on to the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University to obtain his Master of Taxation degree. Richard started his career as an intern with a CPA firm in Pittsburgh and then worked as a staff auditor and senior accountant for 4 years at a regional CPA firm.
Mr. Stephenson leads the Advisory and Technology Workgroups with a focus on planning services and consulting engagements for clients. These Workgroups look to the future of the accounting profession by implementing leading-edge software solutions and business/tax strategies.
Mr. Stephenson is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Pennsylvania and is an active member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), currently serving on two Thought Leadership Committees: Pass-Through Entities and Young Professionals. In September 2021, he received the PICPA’s Young Leader Award (formerly known as the 40 under 40) in recognition of his commitment to the accounting profession through the PICPA. Previously, Mr. Stephenson served a two-year term on the inaugural committee for the PICPA Firm Ambassadors board.
